Millionaire tycoon Frankie “Donuts” Donaldson was yesterday jailed for more than two years for a string of domestic abuse charges.

The 58-year-old admitted attacks on his long term partner Jane Clarke on a number of occasions spanning almost a decade.

A large-scale domestic probe into Donaldson took place after being reported to police in 2013, with officers uncovering years of violence.

Donaldson hit his partner with a wet towel before strangling her with it one morning, and threw a dumbbell at her, but hit a wall.

On one occasion, a child in the house was so concerned he hit Donaldson with a lamp in a bid stop him smacking Miss Clarke on the face with a car key. Earlier this year at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Donaldson pleaded guilty to nine charges of assault – seven against Miss Clarke between January 2005 and June 2013, and two against her sister, Elizabeth Harrison, in March 2001 and October 2004.

He was unfit to come to court at earlier sentencing diets but turned up yesterday to learn his fate, being jailed for 26 months.
