Revamp plan launched for town centre

The Glasgow Institute of Architects has teamed up with community arts body the Stove Network to launch an ideas contest for the Midsteeple Quarter in Dumfries.

Themoveispartofabid aimed at breathing new life into its High Street.

Architects, landscape architects, urban designers and other professionals want to bring redundant upper floors back into use as housing, while encouraging new tenants to set up shop in ground floor retail units. The launch follows transfer of ownership of an historic row of properties called the Bakers Oven.
