Pensioner dies after lorry collision

An elderly man has died in hospital six weeks after he was knocked down by a lorry.

Alan Deas, 74, passed away on Monday following the crash in Lanark Road, Edinburgh, on 24 April.

He was rushed to the Western General Hospital for treatment after being struck by the HGV as he crossed the road.

Police confirmed Mr Deas died on Monday.

Sergeant Fraser Wood said: “Our thoughts are with Alan’s family at this time, who have asked that their privacy be respected.”
