Man assaulted by couple he tried to help

Police are appealing for information after a 35-year-old man was assaulted on Saturday.

At around 2am, the man left his home to assist a young woman who was involved in an altercation with a man in Paisley Road West, near Cessnock Subway station.

He was then assaulted by the man and woman and suffered head, facial and hand injuries. The victim was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
