Elderly woman seriously injured in lorry collision

A woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a lorry on a dual carriagewa­y yesterday.

The pedestrian, believed to be a pensioner, was thought to have been crossing Wellington Road in Aberdeen at the time of the accident.

Fire crews were called out to the scene shortly after 10am to free her from under one of the wheels of the truck.

She was then treated by paramedics at the scene.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
