University awards overseas degrees

A Scottish university has been given permission to award degrees from its New York campus in what is believed to be a first for a foreign higher education institution.

Glasgow Caledonian University has been awarded a charter by New York State education department to become a degree-granting body in New York.

The staff at Glasgow Caledonian New York College (GCNYC) have been engaged in research, conferences and other events since the campus opened its doors in 2013.
