Egypt blocks more online news sites
An Egyptian watchdog said authorities have increased blocking critical websites, and are now preventing internet users from accessing software that would allow them to bypass the restrictions.
In May the government ordered internet service providers to block access to numerous news websites, alleging they supported terrorism or reported “false news”.
A statement by The Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression says Egypt has now blocked five more including investigative journalism sites, bringing the total number to 62 since a censorship campaign began.
