International and internet boost retailer Ted Baker
Sales at fashion chain Ted Baker, which has Scottish roots, experienced continued growth in the 19 weeks to 10 June.
The retailer said group revenue rose 14.2 per cent in the period, while retail sales grew 8.4 per cent on a constant currency basis. Online sales lifted a third.
The stellar growth came “despite external factors” affecting trading across some of its global markets, the retailer said. It opened stores in Los Angeles, Paris, Shanghai and the Netherlands during the period.
Ted Baker chief executive Ray Kelvin said: “We are very pleased with the customer response during the period and, despite an uncertain macro environment, we remain positioned to deliver further progress and our expectations for the full year.”
In January, he pledged shoppers would not be subjected to price hikes this year, with the firm able to mitigate the collapse in the value of sterling following the Brexit vote.
