Churchyard rapist jailed for five years

A rapist who escaped justice for seven years was yesterday jailed for five years after being snared by DNA. Cy Sullivan, 26, raped his 42-year-old drunk victim in Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh on November 27, 2009, and left her naked from the waist down.

DNA was recovered but there was no database match. However, he was charged with assaulting a bouncer in 2015 and a routine DNA swab was taken.

His DNA matched that of the Greyfriars rapist.
