Headteachers to be handed sweeping powers

-

So now that the schools have been stripped of subject resource support, senior teaching posts, special needs support, classroom assistants, put in place a new curriculum, no availability of teachers to fill vacancies, low morale across the profession it’s, eh .......... over to the heedy! What about putting back everything that has been stripped out, then over to the heedy? They might then have a chance of success!

Giving headteachers more powers is not the way forward. Headteachers will have their own personal agendas. The SNP have done nothing for education. Curriculum For Excellence was a great concept but the exam system at present has failed a generation of children. Swinney and co need to listen to practitioners in the classroom and employers as to what skills are required.

This is not what heads wanted they wanted one of the layers of governance removed because at the moment a nation of 5.4 million has too many chiefs and not enough Indians. All Swinney has done is shifted future blame away from Holyrood and onto heads.
