Three charged af­ter re­ported hare-cours­ing

Po­lice have charged three men with hare-cours­ing near El­gin.

The three men, aged 16, 20 and 35, were charged af­ter an in­ci­dent at Wester Cal­cots on Fri­day. A Vaux­hall As­tra was also seized.

The men, from the Lhan­bryde and Spean Bridge ar­eas, were set to ap­pear at El­gin Sher­iff Court yes­ter­day.

Hare-cours­ing, us­ing large dogs to hunt down hares, is il­le­gal in Scot­land.

Po­lice Scot­land’s North East Di­vi­sion is cur­rently run­ning a di­vi­sion-wide ini­tia­tive­name­d­op­er­a­tion Black Fall to crack down on the prac­tice.
