Three charged after reported hare-coursing

-

Police have charged three men with hare-coursing near Elgin.

The three men, aged 16, 20 and 35, were charged after an incident at Wester Calcots on Friday. A Vauxhall Astra was also seized.

The men, from the Lhanbryde and Spean Bridge areas, were set to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday.

Hare-coursing, using large dogs to hunt down hares, is illegal in Scotland.

Police Scotland’s North East Division is currently running a division-wide initiativenamedoperation Black Fall to crack down on the practice.
