More than 600 business leaders, decision makers and developers from the private and public sectors are expected to gather in Edinburgh later this year for what is billed as Scotland’s largest tech event.

Unveiling details of this year’s Scotsoft, which is due to take place on 5 October at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), organisers said the event would see its biggest ever line-up of speakers.

Now in its 20th year, the main developers’ conference will cover four key topics – platforms in the cloud, cyber security, augmented and virtual reality including robotics, and data and analytics.

Keynoting the conference element this year will be Scott Hanselman, a principle program manager at Microsoft. The day also includes speakers from the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, My1login, the Datalab and 13coders.

For the first time each session will be ranked by technicality of talks allowing attendees to choose which talks they wish to attend by indicating the level of complexity.

For chief executives and decision makers, the event’s leadership forum will have three themes – expanding markets, growing teams and financing your business.

Polly Purvis, chief executive of Scotlandis, said: “I am very proud of the role Scotsoft has played in bringing international speakers to Scotland and showcasing local experts over the last 20 years.”
