Winger Pennant training with Hibs

Former Arsenal, Liverpool and Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant is training with Hibernian.

The 34-year-old, who has commanded over £10 million in transfer fees, is a free agent after leaving English League One side Bury at the end of the season.

Pennant trained with Hibs in November after a spell in the Singapore top-flight with Tampines Rovers, but opted to join Bury instead. He posted a photo of himself in Hibs training gear on social media yesterday with the message: “A broken man… damn that was horrid.”

Meanwhile, Hibs are close to completing their move for keeper Ofir Marciano.

The Israel internationalist spent last season on loan from Ashdod and has a year left on his contract there. But a deal to sign him permanently has been struck and Hibs are expected to put the finishing touches to the move this week.
