Experiment reveals high air pollution

Campaigners have claimed the UK’S air pollution problem could be worse than thought as a “citizen science” project showed dirty air across the country.

Thousands of people have taken part in the experiment run by Friends of the Earth to assess pollutant nitrogen dioxide in local areas.

The “clean air kits” give a snapshot of pollution and have recorded high nitrogen dioxide levels in 133 local authorities and 181 constituencies.
