Sacred Paws take home SAY Award
Sacred Paws last night lifted the Scottish Album of the Year award with their debut, Strike a Match.
Guitarist Rachel Aggs and drummer Eilidh Rodgers, living in London and Glasgow respectively, fended off competition from established acts on the longlist including Mogwai, Pictish Trail, Teenage Fanclub and the Jesus and Mary Chain.
Scotsman pop critic Fiona Shepherd described Strike a Match as “stylised lo-fi grrrl punk with Afro guitars”.
