Sacred Paws take home SAY Award

Sacred Paws last night lifted the Scottish Album of the Year award with their debut, Strike a Match.

Guitarist Rachel Aggs and drummer Eilidh Rodgers, living in London and Glasgow respective­ly, fended off competitio­n from establishe­d acts on the longlist including Mogwai, Pictish Trail, Teenage Fanclub and the Jesus and Mary Chain.

Scotsman pop critic Fiona Shepherd described Strike a Match as “stylised lo-fi grrrl punk with Afro guitars”.
