Police identify man who fell to death from cliffs

Police have identified a man who died after falling from cliffs in Orkney.

He has been named as Jamie Shannon, 23, from the Stirling area.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said he died after falling at Yesnaby cliffs near Stromness on Monday at 2:15pm.

Officers were assisted in their search for his body by HM Coastguard helicopter and lifeboat.

Inquiries are continuing into Mr Shannon’s death, although Police Scotland have said that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
