Long-awaited data for global energy consumption for 2016 has finally been released, courtesy of the BP Statistical Review of World Energy. It doesn’t look good for renewables.
From 2006 to 2016 the share of all energy (not just electricity) from renewables has only increased from 7 to 11 per cent, despite the huge number and cost of renewables schemes. And CO2 emissions have not reduced since the credit crunch. What a waste of money!
The data is easily accessible for everyone including politicians, if they can be bothered to look. GEOFF MOORE
