Gloomy future

-

It should come as no surprise that Nicola Sturgeon is not giving up on indyref2 in spite of public opinion. The SNP exists only to achieve Scottish independence and this aim will therefore always predominate.

Those of us who support the Union can only hope that there will be no second referendum before the next Holyrood elections in 2021 when the current majority of MSPS in favour of independence may well disappear and the matter can truly become once in a generation.

If we get a second referendum beforehand the SNP knows it will be do-or-die and we can be sure that they will pull out all the stops and throw all of their millionaire supporters’ money at it to get what they want. If they lose it would be the end of Nicola Sturgeon and she and Alex Salmond would both be remembered as the leaders who took Scotland to the brink of independence and failed.

My worry is that the zealots will then take over, there will be unrest and Scotland will never be at peace with itself.
