Police treating baby’s death as suspicious

Police yesterday confirmed they are treating the death of a baby girl as suspicious.

Three-week-old Mikayla Haining died on Thursday 8 June after being taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Detective Inspector Brian Geddes, who is leading the investigat­ion, said: “Following extensive enquiries, we can now confirm that the circumstan­ces surroundin­g Mikayla Haining’s death are suspicious. Our investigat­ion remains ongoing at this time, as we work towards establishi­ng the full set of circumstan­ces that led to Mikayla’s death.”
