Man charged over Macron attack plot
French authorities said a man has been charged for plotting a possible attack on president Emmanuel Macron.
A spokeswoman for the Paris prosecutor’s office said the 23-year-old suspect’s plans were vague and not yet finalised, and that he appeared to be acting alone.
She said the man was arrested in the Argenteuil suburb on Thursday, and told police of a possible plan to attack Mr Macron on Bastille Day, 14 July.
Mr Macron will oversee a military parade in Paris on Bastille Day before marking the anniversary of the Islamic extremist truck attack in Nice.
