Martin seals new deal with Canaries
Scotland defender Russell Martin has signed a new twoyear deal with Norwich City and been told he will remain as club captain.
Martin is now contracted until summer 2019, although there also includes the option of an extra year.
Since joining from Peterborough in 2009, the centrehalf has made more than 300 appearances for the club.
The 29-times capped player said: “I’m delighted to extend my contract. I think everyone knows how much this club means to me and my family, and I want to say a big thanks to manager Daniel Farke and Stuart Webber for making it happen. They want a bit of stability and people with experience here and hopefully that’s what I’ll carry on bringing. It’s also a massive honour to be asked to continue captaining the side.”
New head coach Farke said: “Russell is an idol here and it’s agreatdecisiontogivehimthis deal. He will be my captain for this season. Even when there are times when he’s not playing, he’s so important for the whole squad.”
