n SUNDAY – An interview with Highland Spring chief executive Les Mongomery is published by the Press Association in which he suggests business leaders are “fed up” with Nicola Sturgeon’s push for independence and want her to get on with the day job. n MONDAY – The comments met an angry backlash and threats of a boycott from Nationalists. n TUESDAY – The firm apologised for the comments insisting they were not intended as an opinion on whether Scotland should be independent. NWEDNESDAY–ITEMERGES that Economy Secretary Keith Brown had instructed Scottish Government officials to contact the firm Opposition parties demand that Mr Brown explains why the firm was contacted amid concerns over “intimidation” Mr Montgomery insists the apology was “categorcally not” linked to the government’s intervention.
