Police inquiry into man’s death has positive lead

Police investigating the death of a man in a latenight attack in Wishaw are following a positive line of inquiry.

Emergency services were called to Glencairn Avenue in the North Lanarkshire town at about 11:30pm on Tuesday to a report that a man had been stabbed.

Kevin Gallacher, 38, was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital but died a short time later.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries and checking CCTV footage from the area, and have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
