Top Gear’s star car goes on sale

-

The humble Kia Cee’d once thrashed around the Top Gear test track by a host of celebrities is up for sale for £4,50.

The 2010 hatchback was used for the show’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment for three years. During that time the likes of Will.i.am, Amber Heard, Alice Cooper and John “Two Jags” Prescott took the wheel of this automatic model in a bid to set the fastest lap around Dunsfold test track.

The Cee’d replaced the show’s original Daewoo Lacetti and was itself dropped in favour of a Vauxhall Astra in later series.

After Clarkson and co. had finished with it, the Cee’d was returned to Kia with 3,000 miles on the clock before being sold on.

Richard Tiernan, who bought the car, has now decided to sell it and has advertised the low-mileage 1.6-litre petrol model on Autotrader for £4,500.

At first the £4,500 might seem a little unreasonable for a seven-year-old Cee’d - a decent one should cost you around £3,000, according to valuation sites - but besides a mileage of just 7,200, the Cee’d also comes with a full roll cage, Corbeau bucket seats and race harnesses.

It also comes with a full service history and is described as being in excellent condition, despite a few mishaps at the hands of over-enthusiastic celebs. And it’s even got eight months left on the MOT.
