Praise from US

-

I am on vacation in Scotland and on my first day here I sustained an injury to my knee. A few days later I suffered an additional complication which led to a visit to the Raigmore A&E in Inverness.

I write to tell you that the care I received through your NHS was absolutely outstanding. I am a Professor of Pediatrics from Tucson, Arizona and very knowledgeable about health systems.

Yours worked well and I am particularly impressed that all of the physicians are aware of and follow the NICE guidelines.

We know that in the United States “socialised medicine” is a dirty word. But we admire the UK commitment to health care as a human right and your success in achieving that goal.

We praise you and will continue to work in our own country to emulate your system or a similar single-payer system.
