Finance for female firms focus of visit to Edinburgh

-

A prestigious female business angel network has been visiting Edinburgh looking at how to improve access to finance for women-led businesses.

The South-east Europe Women’s Business Angel Network (SEEWBAN) has been hosted by Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) at a two-day event at the Quartermile offices of law firm Maclay Murray & Spens. Other parties providing support include the Scottish Investment Bank (SIB).

WES said it will share its knowledge, and work in col- laboration with women’s business associations from across Europe, helping drive investment in female-led firms.

As the lead nation with expertise in the area, Scotland is hosting the groups from seven countries, and the Eufunded SEEWBAN project is expected to lead to about €2.4 million being invested in new women-led businesses.

Weschairlynnecadenhead cited research indicating “a greater return on investment and overall sustainability from ventures led by women”.
