Corbyn rejects PM’S olive branch, telling her: ‘You’ve run out of steam’

Jeremy Corbyn rejected Theresa May’s offer to work with the opposition and mocked her call for ideas from her political rivals, telling the Prime Minister her government has “run out of steam”.

The Labour leader accused Mrs May of having a “narrow and hopeless vision” for Britain’s future ahead of a major speech to relaunch her administra­tion.

The Prime Minister will call on opponents to “come forward with your own views and ideas” as she struggles to form a programme for her 0 Jeremy Corbyn says the PM has a ‘hopeless vision’ minority government. During exchanges in the Commons on the recent G20 summit in Hamburg, Mr Corbyn said: “Let’s face it, the Government has run out of steam and at a pivotal moment in our country and the world, amid uncertaint­y over Brexit, conflict in the Gulf states, nuclear sabrerattl­ing over North Korea, refugees continuing to flee war and destructio­n, ongoing pandemics, cross-border terrorism, poverty and inequality, and the impact of climate change are the core global challenges of our time.

“Just when we need strong Government, we have weakness from this Government.”

Mrs May defended her “ambitious agenda” and said all parties should be able to agree on areas like workers’ rights and funding the police.
