Go on, have another coffee

-

News that drinking three cups of a coffee a day can actually lower our risk of dying is welcome to the caffeine addicts among us.

With an estimated 70 million cups of Java making its way down the throats of the British public every day, a headline which tells us that out coffee bean fix is not detrimental to health is always a good thing.

If even the latest study – thought to be the biggest of its kind – doesn’t allay your fears, there are plenty of others which tell us that a cup of the black stuff is actually beneficial. One found that just sniffing the aroma of a good cup of coffee can make us more relaxed, while another claimed that drinking coffee may help people with Parkinson’s disease control their movement and even prevent the disease from developing.

Don’t go over the top, though. One recent investigation found that people who drink more than 28 cups of joe per week were more likely to die of almost any cause than people who drank less.

Whatever the exact science, it seems we can enjoy our favourite drink with a clear conscience – just go easy on the cakes and biscuits.
