It’s just rubbish

-

For the last six months, more often than not, the residents of EH16 have not had their recycling bins emptied on the appointed day. Edinburgh City Council’s excuse is a world shortage of bin lorry drivers. Maybe some of the money wasted on 20 mph schemes could have been used to raise wages and attract more drivers. Delays are always to be expected but not every week.

What makes things much worse is the complete lack of information.

There is a phone line that does not have the option to speak to a live person, a website that hardly ever has any accurate information so we don’t know if the problem is delay or missed collection.

The complaints section of the Council website promises a response within 7 days and does not respond at all. All the local Councillors seem able to do is parrot official excuses, and wring their hands. We deserve better than this.
