Jumpstart, the Edinburghheadquartered tax relief specialist, is to ramp up its presence in the south east of England following a successful first year of operation at its Slough office.

The firm, which specialises in research and development (R&D) tax credits, said the office had enabled it to service a growing portfolio of clients across a range of sectors in the area, as well as accommodating an expanding team ofbusinessdevelopmentmanagers and science and technology experts.

Jumpstart yesterday announced the appointment of an additional technical analyst, Jay Bhatti, in Slough and pledged to create further jobs in the year ahead in line with the increasing demand for its services.

Scott Henderson, managing director, said: “The south east is renowned for being exceptionally rich in R&D and innovative activity, and that has certainly been our experience in the past year.

“We have found ourselves working more and more with companies across a wide variety of industries in the region – particularly in the manufacturing and software & ICT sectors – and, collectively, they have benefited from hundreds of thousands of pounds in tax savings over the past year.”

He pointed to the latest figures from HM Revenue & Customs, which indicate that, aside from London, the south east of England has the highest uptake of research and development tax relief in the UK – accounting for 18.5 per cent of all R&D tax relief claimed Uk-wide in the financial year 2015-2016. 0 Technical analyst Jay Bhatti has joined the firm
