Bid to raise up to £5.5m for Highlands distillery
A funding round has been launched to raise up to £5.5 million to help build a new whisky and gin distillery in the Highlands.
The plans for the distillery, in the grounds of Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland, have been unveiled by Elizabeth Costin Sutherland, the granddaughter of the Countess of Sutherland.
The distillery, which will include a visitor centre and local bottling plant, will cre- ate at least eight jobs in the local area.
“With this business we are also aiming to boost local tourism by creating a unique distillery experience for visitors to Dunrobin Castle and the wider Golspie and Scottish highlands area,” said Sutherland.
Dunrobin whisky and gin will use local ingredients including barley and botanicals from the Dunrobin Farm and water from the Cagar Foesaig mountain spring which is located on the Sutherland Estate.
