#THERESAMAY

The Prime Minister attempted to ‘relaunch’ her leadership with a personal speech following the launch of a report into modern working practices in the so-called ‘gig economy’. @Carolinelucas wrote: “Theresa May says she wants to work with others. Let’s start now. How about a cross-party commission on arms sales to Saudi Arabia?” @Thesatireparty joked: “Theresa May reportedly ‘desperate’ for Trump to visit UK soon, as it will briefly make her the second most-hated politician in the country.” @Jason_spacey added: “I’ve devised a three-point plan to help Theresa May tackle unfairness. 1) Stop being Prime Minister. 2) Go away. 3) Stay there.” @Adambienkov reported: “Theresa May asked by Robert Peston if her current predicament has made her more aware of employment insecurity.”

#DONALDTRUMPJR

The President’s son released a series of e-mails designed to take the heat out of an investigation into his dealings with Russians, but it did the opposite as the extent to which he knew he was dealing with Kremlinlinked officials was exposed. @Repjudychu tweeted: “Trump Jr has now effectively admitted to taking information from Russian Government trying to influence campaign. Silence cannot be an option.” @Hansmollman added: “Is Donald Trump Jr trying to prove he didn’t collude with Russia by tweeting e-mails showing he colluded with Russia?” @Pablortorre added: “Donald Trump Jr is playing one-dimensional checkers against himself. He just lost.”

#WIMBLEDON

Fans were enjoying the return of relatively pleasant weather at SW19, and the fact that their nerves wouldn’t be frazzled by an Andy Murray match. @Richardosman wrote: “On behalf of visually impaired people, watching Wimbledon is so much easier when one player wears a hat and the other doesn’t.” @Themattdowell added: “In the last 5 majors, Venus Williams has made 2 semifinals and a final. Not bad for someone who’s ‘not a contender anymore’”. @Cnegronwrite joked: “Think I would have made a great Wimbledon ball boy, mostly because it’s the same way I stand at parties. Against the wall and stock still #introvert.”
