The general manager of Edinburgh’s Radisson Blu hotel has been handed an expanded role in the city.

Richard Mayne, 41, will now take on responsibility for the five-star G&V Royal Mile Hotel, becoming a “cluster general manager” for both establishments. Mayne, who is said to have 25 years’ industry experience, was last month named general manager of the year within Carlson Rezidor for its Europe, Middle East and Africa operations.

He has overseen “positive and sustained growth” at the 238-bedroom Radisson Blu Edinburgh since being appointed to that role in July 2015.

The G&V is part of the Quor- vus Collection within the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

The hotel offers guests the choice of seven suites individually designed by Scottish artists, including Christine Clark and fashion designer Judy R Clark.

Late last year, it opened the Epicurean Bar to complement Cucina, the Italian restaurant overseen by Bolognan chef Mattia Camorani.

Martin Scott, previously general manager at the G&V, recently left the hotel to pursue “new opportunities in the hospitality sector”.

Mayne said: “Located within five minutes walk of each other in the Old Town, both hotels reflect the quality of choice and exceptional guest experience offered to the discerning traveller and restaurant goer in Scotland’s capital.” 0 Richard Mayne has been GM at the hotel since July 2015
