Border Force ‘under strain’
Border Force’s operations at the UK’S second largest airport have come under “considerable strain”, a report warns. The immigration watchdog found the agency was performing well against national standards for managing passenger queues at Gatwick’s South Terminal.
But the organisation was found to be “overly reliant” on mobile and seasonal staff to maintain this level of performance. The report said seasonal workers were employed to help immigration controls during summer last year.
