Man rescued from harbour dies in hospital

A man who was rescued from a harbour in Aberdeensh­ire has died.

He was pulled from the water at Macduff harbour at about 5pm on Tuesday and was given first aid by paramedics before being flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Police said the man died yesterday morning and his next of kin were aware.

Chief Inspector Neil Mcdonald said: “I would like to take this opportunit­y to publicly acknowledg­e efforts of the members of the public, in particular some youngsters, who assisted in rescuing the man.”
