Laura Harding’s 11 July article author said JK Rowling repeated an old and discredite­d story about ‘’a child in Czech Republic, kept in a caged cot’’.

The story, based on a ‘’report’’ by an ‘’undercover’’ volunteer carer in a Czech hospital, originated from an ambitious Westminste­r baroness in dire need of another cause who, looking for a famous name as a support, recruited Ms Rowling.
