Shepherd & Wedderburn team advise on 144 deals

Legal firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has hailed a strong year for its banking and finance practice, with the team working on deals amounting to more than £93 billion in value.

The Edinburgh-headquarte­red firm’s team of finance lawyers worked on 144 deals in total, according to its recently published Banking Deals Review 2016-17.

Highlights included acting on three Towd Pointgrani­te securitisa­tions with a total value of £7bn. This related to the Neptune portfolio of Northern Rock residentia­l mortgages and unsecured loans purchased by Cerberus from the UK government.

Elsewhere, the firm, which also has offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow and London, advised the Green Investment Bank on a loan to help Stirling Council install 12,000 energy saving streetligh­ts.
