Shepherd & Wedderburn team advise on 144 deals
Legal firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has hailed a strong year for its banking and finance practice, with the team working on deals amounting to more than £93 billion in value.
The Edinburgh-headquartered firm’s team of finance lawyers worked on 144 deals in total, according to its recently published Banking Deals Review 2016-17.
Highlights included acting on three Towd Pointgranite securitisations with a total value of £7bn. This related to the Neptune portfolio of Northern Rock residential mortgages and unsecured loans purchased by Cerberus from the UK government.
Elsewhere, the firm, which also has offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow and London, advised the Green Investment Bank on a loan to help Stirling Council install 12,000 energy saving streetlights.
Fiona Buchanan, head of banking and finance, said: “We are especially heartened to have been able to work with a wide range of organisations – from large multinationals to owneroperated SMES.”
