Kier Group acquisition gives boost to portfolio

Kier, the building and construction services group, has bolstered its presence in both the utilities and infrastructure services sectors after completing the acquisition of Mcnicholas, which has offices in Glasgow.

Mcnicholas, which works across the telecoms, power, water, renewable energy and rail sectors, is headquartered in Elstree, Hertfordshire, and employs some 1,880 people. Its client base includes Virgin Media and Network Rail. Chief executive Barry Mcnicholas joins Kier.
