Woman hurt as bus brakes to avoid car

An elderly bus passenger has suffered a serious head injury after the driver had to brake sharply to prevent a collision with a car that pulled out in front of the bus.

The number 44 Lothian Bus was at the Milton Link junction travelling towards Edinburgh city centre when the incident happened at about 4:45pm on Thursday. An 81-year-old woman on the bus sustained a head injury and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The car involved, which police are seeking to trace, is described as black.
