Whale dies after tail is entangled in rope

An adult female minke whale has died after its tail became tangled up in rope, experts have said.

The whale had been feeding off the north coast of Mull. Last week, the whale was spotted dead in the sea close to the island. The animal later washed up on a shoreline of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Scottish Marine Animal Strandings Scheme scientists said “entanglement” was the most likely cause of death.
