Poetry Al Fresco with Ryan Van Winkle

Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh, Thursday 27 July 7pm, £12 Join Saltire Prize-winning poet and curator Ryan Van Winkle as he guides the audience around Jupiter Artland’s sculpture park. If you’ve never visited the wonder that is Jupiter Artland, Van Winkle’s event would make an ideal introducti­on. He will read poems from his awardwinni­ng collection The Good Dark among the sculpture park’s contempora­ry art in a special, sitespecif­ic event.

Wilfred Owen’s Edinburgh

Edinburgh Napier University, Craiglockh­art Campus, Tuesday 15 August 6.30pm, Free From late June to November in 1917, the soldier-poet Wilfred Owen recovered from shell shock at Craiglockh­art War Hospital, near Edinburgh. For the last ten years, Neil Mclennan has been researchin­g Owen’s time in Edinburgh to better understand his experience and the influence the city had on him. Mclennan will share his research and his belief that Edinburgh provided Owen with enlightenm­ent and inspiratio­n.

National Poetry Day with Don Paterson

Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh, Thursday 28 September 7pm, £12 Celebrate National Poetry Day in style at Jupiter Artland, who are partnering with the Scottish Poetry Library to bring you something special. The great Scottish poet Don Paterson, winner of just about every poetry prize going, will perform a unique set on the grounds of the sculpture park. Paterson’s unique style and perspectiv­e will be perfectly complement­ed by the unique surroundin­gs. ■
