Leaders Kyles taste first league defeat to 11-man Newtonmore
It’s tight at the top of the Marine Harvest Premiership as fourth-placed Newtonmore beat Kyles Athletic 3-1 at The Eilan to inflict the leaders’ first league defeat of the season.
Glen Mackintosh gave More the lead midway through the first half and Evan Menzies netted a second a minute before the break. Sandy Mackenzie halved the deficit on the hour but despite having Evan Menzies sent off, the hosts clinched the points when Connor Jones made it 3-1.
Kingussie stay third, a point behind joint leaders Kyles and Kinlochshiel but have played three matches more. Lee Bain’s hat-trick and strikes from Ruaridh Anderson and Ryan Borthwick gave them a 5-2 win over Lochaber with Zandz Ferguson and Stuart Callison scoring for the visitors.
The games between Kinlochshiel and Glasgow Mid Argyll and Oban Camanachd and Kilmallie were both postponed because unplayable surfaces.
Fort William lifted the Balliemore Cup, beating Caberfeidh 5-4 on penalties at Blairbeg. Craig Morrison’s hat-trick and Kevin Bartlett’s penalty for Cabers and Jack Fraser’s brace and efforts by Lewis Clark and Calum Shepherd for the Fort made it 4-4 after extra-time.
