Bowman double makes case for a place

-

Mother well manager stephen Robinson admits Ryan Bowman has given him something to think about with his early-season form.

The former Gateshead striker only scored twice last season, but matched that in a 22-minute appearance with two well-taken goals against Queen’s Park in a 5-1 Betfred Cup win at Hampden.

Bowman failed to get a start as Alex Fisher was supported by Craig Tanner up front but the forward looks set to contribute in the coming weeks.

Robinson said: “Bowie has come on and stepped up to the plate with two great goals.

“We have a small squad. When you get your chance, take it, and Bowie has certainly done that.”

Bowman’s goals both came from good runs on to balls over the top. Chris Cadden had scored early on but Adam Cummins levelled and Motherwell struggled to gain the upper hand until Tanner scored after a defensive error.

Bowman eased them clear with his two strikes before fellow sub Louis Moult curled in a free-kick.
