Staggies passing impresses Mcintyre

-

County manager Jim Mcintyre was impressed with his side’s passing as they kicked off their campaign with a victory in a match which they dominated throughout.

“Especially in the first half, we moved the ball really well,” he said. “Alloa have some really good players, but I thought we approached it in the right manner.”

The Premiership team took the lead five minutes before half-time when a corner by Michael Gardyne was met by Marcus Fraser, who volleyed into the top right-hand corner of the net.

County, who fielded two of their summer signings – defender Sean Kelly and onloan Celtic midfielder Jamie Lindsay–sealed the points on 69 minutes when Craig Curran followed up to score from the rebound after goalkeeper Craig Mcdowall could only parry his initial effort.

Alloa’s disappointment was compounded by debutant Craig Malcolm being stretchered off after suffering an ankle ligament injury.

Manager Jim Goodwin said: “I can’t argue with the result. The boys worked hard but I’m disappointed we didn’t play to the levels we’re capable of.”
