Sun-blinded taxi driver banned for OAP death

-

A taxi driver who caused the death of 89-year-old man after being blinded by the sun was yesterday spared jail.

James Buchanan, 50, admitted a charge of causing death by careless driving after colliding with David Mcquiston in Dunoon, Argyll and Bute.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that the pensioner had gone onto the road because the pavement was icy. He died two months later. Mr Buchanan was ordered to perform 270 hours unpaid community work and banned from driving for three years.
