Dusty road: Drivers compete in epic Silk Way rally from Russia to China

The epic off-road race spans more than 10,000km, starting in Moscow and continuing through Russia, Kazakhstan and China where it is due to conclude in Xi’an on Saturday.

The marathon rally was first held in 2009.

This is the second time in its history that the route has taken in three countries. The Russian section is mostly through forest roads, the Kazakhstan stages in the steppes and the China finale is raced largely across sand dunes.
