Midfielder O’brien agrees two-year contract to stay with Ross County

-

0 O’brien: Staying a Staggie Jim O’brien has made his Ross County switch permanent after signing a two-year deal, the Staggies have announced.

The former Celtic and Motherwell wide player moved to Dingwall back in January on a six-month loan from the English League One outfit Shrewsbury Town.

But the midfielder has now sealed a full-time move to the Highlands after impressing manager Jim Mcintyre with his 14 appearances last term.

The move remains subject to international clearance, which means that O’brien may not be able to feature in tonight’s Betfred Cup clash with Hibernian at the Global Energy Arena.

But Mcintyre is just pleased to have secured the former Republic of Ireland youth international’s signature.

He told his club’s official website: “I’m delighted to bring Jim back to Dingwall on a permanent deal.

“He played a part in helping us achieve our goals in the second half of last season and he wants to come and play for us. At 29 years of age he has lots of experience and qualities that can help bring on the younger players in our squad.”

O’brien joins Sean Kelly, Thomas Mikkelsen and Jamie Lindsay in signing for County this summer.

The previous three arrivals have all featured in County’s opening Betfred Cup wins over Alloa and Montrose.
