The ar­ti­cle on the Glas­gow­fair on 24 July brought to mind the fol­low­ing sub-mcg­o­na­gall lines, cur­rent at one time, cel­e­brat­ing the annual ex­o­dus:

“O, Broomielaw! O, Broomielaw!

Many’s the crowd that you have saw

Goin’ their hol­i­days tae Dunoon Fur tae get their faces broon. There they stand upon the decks

Wi’ happy smiles above their necks Feelin’, oh, so very merry And wavin’ tae us yins passin’ oan the ferry!”
