Ferry tales
The article on the Glasgowfair on 24 July brought to mind the following sub-mcgonagall lines, current at one time, celebrating the annual exodus:
“O, Broomielaw! O, Broomielaw!
Many’s the crowd that you have saw
Goin’ their holidays tae Dunoon Fur tae get their faces broon. There they stand upon the decks
Wi’ happy smiles above their necks Feelin’, oh, so very merry And wavin’ tae us yins passin’ oan the ferry!”
