Teenager found on rails ‘electrocut­ed’

A 16-year-old girl is thought to have been electrocut­ed on a railway.

The teenager’s body was discovered at Herne Bay station in Kent shortly before 7am yesterday.

British Transport Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining serious injuries believed to be caused by electrocut­ion.

Her death is being treated as unexplaine­d while officers conduct investigat­ions into how she received the injuries.

The teenager’s family has been informed.
