Lifeboat crews come to aid of French yacht

-

Lifeboat crews went to the aid of French yacht after the vessel ran aground with seven people on board.

Islay RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew rescued six people, including two children, after the sailing boat Anjela ran onto a charted rock at the south end of the Sound of Islay.

The captain of the 16-metre sailing boat chose to stay on board the vessel, which was heavily listing.

Islay lifeboat was launched at 12:18am on Tuesday, and reached the yacht 20 minutes later to find that she was listing heavily to port.
